SR 26/27-021:In Opposition to the Department of Homeland Security’s Proposed $100,000 Optional Practical Training (OPT) Fee

If passed, the ASUC Senate would formally oppose the Department of Homeland Security’s proposed $100,000 Optional Practical Training (OPT) fee, which would impose significant financial and administrative burdens on international students and UC Berkeley. This resolution urges UC Berkeley administration to protect international students from these fees and directs the ASUC Senate to submit a public comment to the Federal Registrar. It also calls on the UC Office of the President to condemn the rule and actively combat its implementation across the UC system.
