SR 25/26-007:Preventing the Erasure of Afro-Latine and Indigenous Identities by Institutionalizing their Recognition During Latine Heritage Month

This resolution directs the Associated Students of the University of California and UC Berkeley leadership to celebrate Latine/Hispanic Heritage Month, from September 15 through October 15, by explicitly honoring the intersectionality of the region and acknowledging African and Indigenous contributions. It aims to move beyond a Mexican-, Mestizo-, and Spanish-speaking-centric approach to ensure comprehensive representation of Latine communities on campus. This action is crucial for uniting and addressing current attacks against the Latin American community.
