Preventing the Erasure of Afro-Latine and Indigenous Identities by Institutionalizing their Recognition During Latine Heritage Month

This resolution directs the Associated Students of the University of California to celebrate Latine Heritage Month from September 15 through October 15 by honoring the intersectionality of the region and acknowledging African and Indigenous contributions. It calls upon UC Berkeley leadership, including Chancellor Rich Lyons and Vice Chancellor Stephen Sutton, to avoid a Mexican-, Mestizo-, Spanish-speaking-centric approach.
