This resolution recognizes the significant harms of generative AI and data centers on the environment, minority communities, and low-income and rural communities. It condemns the construction of new data centers, particularly in environmental justice communities, and heavily discourages the use of any generative AI, especially ChatGPT, in all ASUC operations. The resolution encourages future consideration of stricter generative AI regulations within student government and throughout campus, specifically targeting OpenAI and ChatGPT, to address concerns about environmental impact, bias, and controversial partnerships.
