Save Free Student Press Initiative

This resolution directs the ASUC to place a fee referendum, "The Daily Cal Initiative," on the 2026 ASUC General Elections ballot. This referendum proposes the "Save Free Student Press fee," an $8.50 per semester and $4.00 per summer fee for all students, starting Fall 2027 and ending Summer 2032, with annual $0.50 increases from 2028-29. The fee aims to provide continued financial support for The Daily Californian's free content, print distribution, digital media, student journalism scholarships, and financial independence, with one-third of the revenue ($2.83) returning to financial aid.
